Every Damn Thing
Steve's Story
Steve Double has been working as a professional photographer for 40 years specialising in celebrity portraits.
During that time he has dealt with every conceivable situation, from extreme lateness to indecisive clients and from stroppy subjects to non-functioning equipment.
Some highlights of his career are having 90 seconds to photograph Bill Gates, waiting 6 hours for the Spice Girls (and then being sworn at by them), cadging a lift in U2’s private jet, being chided for lateness by Public Enemy, drinking Caipirinhas with Nick Cave, blagging an upgrade off Richard Branson, spending 5 days in a van with Nirvana and never having to wear a tie.
His work is held in the permanent collection of the UK’s National Portrait Gallery.
He is old enough to know better.

FAQ'ing Eejits
I've been a humble toiler at the coal face of popular culture for 40 years now. My images represent a small part of the visual archive of that culture and by purchasing directly from me you not only support my work but also become a part of it yourself. Plus, just think of that framed photo on your wall!
Well now that's a good question, thank you for asking! Firstly I take the original negative or transparency out of my physical archive and scan it at very high resolution and then meticulously retouch it to remove any dust or scratches (in some cases the images were origniated digitally so these steps do not apply). Then I colour balance and adjust hue and saturaion, contrast and any other elements of the look of the image until it meets my satisfaction. Next it is colour profilled to match the specifications of the print house printer and the paper that I use (Hahnemühle Photo Rag, since you ask). and uploaded to their server to await your order.
Every photo carries my signature printed at the bottom left and is shipped with a certificate of authenticy. Only prints produced through this website by myself have these proofs of authenticity.
My prints are guarenteed 'Archival Quality'. In practice this means gallery-grade, carbon-neutral prints designed to resist fading and degradation for generations. Produced by the Giclée method of inkjet printing using fade-resistant pigment inks and acid-free cotton papers. Under average daylight conditions, these prints have an archival lifespan of up to 80 years, and can last up to 200 years if kept in dark storage.
I offer a 30-day return policy on all products. If you're not satisfied, you can return your print for a full refund.
